1716 LOCUST

The large, extended family of Better Homes and Gardens is celebrating a once-in-lifetime milestone: 2002 marks the 100th anniversary of our parent company, Meredith Corporation. Founded in 1902 in Des Moines, Iowa, by E.T. Meredith, this company was built on a mission of service to American farmers and their families. As our country grew and changed, E.T. recognized a need to serve a broader audience, so he created a new magazine, Fruit, Garden & Home, for passionate homeowners with young families. As the magazine's focus galvanized around the home, a "better" title was chosen and today, the resulting Better Homes and Gardens is still very much grounded in E.T.'s original vision.
