IT'S LIKE A GYM, BUT FOR CRAFTING That's the easiest way to explain Craft, an Austin studio where visitors spend time creating and everyone shares supplies instead of treadmills and weights. "I love to make things/' says founder Eli Winkelman. "And I remember walking through crafts stores thinking that I wanted to use everything without the burden of owning it all." She gives members and drop-in guests the chance to do that and opens the doors for groups like the Creative Ladies Night troop, below, who recently took over the space for one of their monthly maker sessions. By day, these women are busy creatives and entrepreneurs, designing light fixtures, floor plans, and stationery; getting together to experiment with new mediums rekindles their creativity.
